Hey there! I’m Charles Whiting, a Multimedia Sports Journalist and Creative.

I graduated from Towson University in the spring of 2022 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mass Communication. I have a passion for sports media and I’ve had the opportunity to work with some amazing organizations. Check out my resume for a complete overview of my experience.

Baltimore Ravens

Media Logger

I joined the Baltimore Ravens as a Media Logger in the summer of 2023 soon after my internship with the Dallas Cowboys came to an end. As a Media Logger, I assisted with the logging of all game day video clips, logged and organized NFL Films highlights, and collaborated with staff members of Ravens Productions to create an organized and accurate media library. The Baltimore Ravens are storied franchise with an excellent staff of media professionals that I was able to learn from.

Intern

In the summer of 2023, I had the opportunity to work as a Training Camp Intern for the Dallas Cowboys. The duties associated with this position included: assisting in the completion of the initial training camp set-up and break down, completion of daily Marketing office duties, and assisting the Public Relations department in player and fan engagement. Working with the Dallas Cowboys was a dream come true and a highlight of my career to this point. Through this internship, I was able to work alongside and learn from great industry professionals, and build lasting connections.

MLS NEXT Pro

Play-by-play Broadcaster

Following graduation in May 2022, I joined MLS NEXT Pro midway through the season. I spent the rest of the season as a Play-by-Play Broadcaster. I was a solo broadcaster, so I was calling each game on my own. This was a great for me to get repetition and grow as a broadcaster. As a soccer enthusiast, it was great to call games for a professional soccer league.

WBAL-TV 11

Intern

In the summer of 2021, I interned with WBAL-TV 11, Baltimore’s #1 news station. Through participation and observation, this internship gave me the skills and knowledge of many different departments in a news station including: News/Sports, Creative Services, Programming & Public Affairs, Sales & Marketing, and Engineering and IT. WBAL-TV 11 also gave me the opportunity to work on location as a production assistant for their Olympics coverage, Olympic Zone. I learned new things every day about broadcast, and will take those lessons anywhere I go.

Towson Sports Network

Intern

During my time at Towson University, I interned with the Towson Sports Network, Towson Universities student-run sports network. TSN is the broadcast home of all the sports Towson athletics offers. While there, I was a play-by-play broadcaster, sideline reporter, camera operator, video editor, and producer. Throughout my two years with TSN, I worked close to 200 different sporting events, giving me plenty of repetition to build my broadcast style and knowledge for the business.

Seattle Mariners

Social Media Associate

In March 2024, I joined the Seattle Mariners as a Social Media Associate. I develop content for Mariners and secondary social media accounts on platforms including Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. I assist with live in-game social media coverage for both home and away games. I shoot/edit photos & videos; create graphics, highlight reels, GIFs, TikToks; craft social copy. The Seattle Mariners have a great culture built on collaboration, and it has allowed me to make meaningful contributions to the team while continuing to learn every day.
